3 Great Holiday Season Attractions in Niagara Falls

There’s never a bad time to visit Niagara Falls. Whether you’re traveling solo, enjoying a one-on-one trip with your special someone or taking a full-blown family vacation, Niagara has plenty to offer. This is particularly true during the holiday season. Although Niagara Falls is commonly viewed as a place to visit during the spring and summer months, the area is also home to an abundance of fun-filled holiday attractions. So if you’re currently on the hunt for the perfect wintertime travel destination, look no further than Niagara Falls.

1. Winter Festival of Lights

Visitors with a soft spot for elaborate lighting displays are sure to love the Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights. In effect from November 3rd to January 31st, the Festival of Lights encompasses the iconic Niagara Parkway and various other areas frequented by tourists. As you enjoy a leisurely stroll down the parkway, you’ll be able to take in an eye-catching array of holiday-themed lighting displays that are collectively composed of over 3,000,000 individual lights. Additionally, starting in late December, visitors are given the chance to watch breathtaking laser shows that serve as entertaining companion pieces to the Festival of Lights. When perusing hotels in Niagara Falls, keep an eye out for options located in the vicinity of the aforementioned parkway.

2. Floral Showhouse

Another companion piece to the Winter Festival of Lights, the Niagara Falls Floral Showhouse is an attraction that no dedicated plant lover can afford to miss. Located directly across from the Ontario Power Generating Plant, the Floral Showhouse is home to a two-story waterfall and a bevy of exotic plants. Of course, this being wintertime, the Showhouse is also outfitted with a festive lighting display that’s sure to fill guests with holiday cheer. In addition to providing visitors with lots of sights to take in, the Floral Showhouse offers a warm, cozy safe haven from the chilly weather.

3. Fireworks Displays

Although fireworks are typically associated with summertime, professional fireworks displays can be every bit as enjoyable during the frosty winter months – and nowhere is this more apparent than Niagara Falls. Throughout the winter season, there are dozens of meticulously choreographed fireworks shows that take place in the vicinity of the world-famous falls. Watching fireworks illuminate Niagara Falls against a starry wintertime sky is a one-of-a-kind experience that no visitor should miss.

4. Niagara Skywheel

No wintertime traveler can go home without taking a spin on the Niagara Skywheel. One of the world’s most popular Ferris wheels, the Niagara Skywheel is located right behind the Niagara Midway and provides guests with an amazing view of the falls themselves, as well as the surrounding area. If you’re looking for a romantic attraction to enjoy with your sweetie, a nighttime ride on the Skywheel is just what the doctor ordered.
